Being certified as the top article by Center for Non-Destructive Evaluation (CNDE) on the conference on “Recent Advances in Railway Engineering (ICRARE 2021)”

The International Conference on Recent Advances in Railway Engineering (ICRARE) is one of the most prestigious and longstanding conferences in the field of railway engineering in West Asia. Up to date, six successful sessions of this scientific-industrial international event have been held by the School of Railway Engineering of Iran University of Science and Technology and […]

Nondestructive detection of Microstructural Changes due to the Grinding Burn Using Electromagnetic Probes

Journal: Iranian Journal of Manufacturing Engineering Publication date: 24 April 2021 Abstract: Grinding burn is one of the most significant problems in grinding process with uncontrolled conditions and degrades the mechanical properties and performance of the part. The aim of the present study is to non-destructively evaluate the grinding burn phenomenon in steel parts. The […]

Application of Artificial Neural Network and Multi-magnetic NDE Methods to Determine Mechanical Properties of Plain Carbon Steels Subjected to Tempering Treatment

The present paper shows the results of applying an artificial neural network to three non-destructive magnetic methods including magnetic hysteresis loop (MHL), eddy current (EC), and magnetic flux leakage (MFL) techniques to determine mechanical features of plain carbon steels with unknown carbon contents subjected to tempering treatment.

Selecting the research project of the Center for Non-Destructive Evaluation as the selected university project of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in 1399

Research project “Design and construction of non-destructive eddy current device in order to characterize the railway parameters of Mashhad Urban Train Operating Company” which has been carried out by respected professors Dr. Iman Ahadi Akhlaghi and Dr. Saeed Kahrobaee and his colleagues in the Center of Non-Destructive Evaluation and commissioned by Mashhad Urban Train Operating […]

Predicting hardness profile of steel specimens subjected to Jominy test using an artificial neural network and electromagnetic nondestructive techniques

Journal: Nondestructive Testing and Evaluation Publication date: 04 Jun 2020 Abstract: Based on relationships between electromagnetic properties and microstructural changes in steel, the current paper describes the development of an electromagnetic technique to determine steel hardenability, non-destructively. Performing Jominy end-quench test, magnetic hysteresis loop and eddy current methods have been applied to SAE 4140 standard […]

A Magnetic Nondestructive Evaluation Method to Simultaneously Determine Chemical Composition and Heat Treatment Characteristics of Plain Carbon Steels: A Statistical Modeling Approach

Journal: Materials Engineering and Performance Publication date: 26 March 2020 Abstarct: In this paper, combination of multiple regression method, logit model and discriminant analysis is proposed to extract underlying relationships among metallurgical characteristics of steel samples with different carbon contents subjected to various heat-treating cycles and magnetic properties.

An accurate non-destructive method for determining mechanical properties of plain carbon steel parts using MHL and GRNN

Journal: Nondestructive Testing and Evaluation Publication date: 19 March 2020 Abstract: The sensitivity of magnetic non-destructive methods to both chemical composition and microstructure has limited their potential application for determination of mechanical properties in plain carbon steels under conditions of varying carbon content and microstructure.
